As a member of The Friends of the Library, you join a wide and diverse group of citizens who work together to help the Library.
Friends enrich our community culture by sponsoring author and book events. Guest authors have included John Grisham, Margaret McMullan, Gordon Wood, and Anthony Harris. The popular Lunch With Books, book signings and humanties-based programming entertain and enlighten hundreds of people each year.
The Library's service to children is especially important to the Friends. The Summer Reading Program and Black History Bowl receive annual support, while special purchases of furniture and computers have helped to provide wonderful experiences for our younger users.
The highlight of the Friends' year is the annual Membership Party & Book Sale. Held each year in early December, the party offers the opportunity to visit with other library supporters, renew annual memberships, and get unbeatable bargains on gently used books.
