The library collection includes a number of accelerated reader titles. Use the youth catalog to access information on Accelerated Reader materials - as well as information on Lexile Levels.
The library has four monthly book clubs:
- Monday Night Book Club
- Wednesday Noon Book Club
- Petal Book Club
- Nonfiction Book Club
Due to the ongoing pandemic, some meetings are available via Zoom while others are in-person. Check our calendar for updated meeting times/formats.
We have 17 desktop computers available for use at the Hattiesburg Library and 4 desktop computers at the Petal Library.
There are also 6 computers in the Hattiesburg Library's homework lab, with pre-selected educational sites. This lab provides limited free printing for homework assignments.
Placing an online hold for items is the best way to get the books you want; either by coming into the library or using our curbside pickup service. Hold notifications let you know that we have the material ready for you to pick up. This instruction sheet contains more information about the process.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

The library offers meeting room reservations on a first-come, first-serve basis. In the interest of fairness, reservations cannot exceed four (4) hours per day and patrons may only make one (1) reservation at a time.

We offer research assistance for students, genealogists, and the general public. Submit your questions via our reference form or call 601.582.4461 for further assistance. Please allow at least 7 business days for your question to be answered - we strive to provide answers as soon as staffing and library operations allow.
Help youngsters develop a love for reading by bringing them to the library for Family Story Time!
